SIIL admits that nothing survives in their review Petition for Mining Niyamgiri Hills
The Sterlite Industries India Ltd. (SIIL) on 28th July, 2011 has said in the National Green Tribunal that its Review Petition against the judgment of the National Environment Appellate Authority (NEAA) does not survive in view of the EAC recommendation dated 25.04.2011. If you recall, the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) reconsidered the Niyamgiri Project upon the direction of the NEAA and recommended the project for approval. However, subsequently the Ministry of Environment & Forests by order dated 11.07.2011 decided to withdraw the environment clearance.
