ERC's Objections to the TORs issued to the newly constituted EACs - letter to Ramesh

The Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) recently constituted new Expert Appraisal Committees for Thermal power and coal mine projects; Infrastructure, building/construction and industrial estates and Miscellaneous projects; and River valley and hydroelectric projects. The ERC, in a letter to the Minister for Environment and Forests, Jairam Ramesh, has objected to some of the TORs issued to the newly constituted EACs as they are in violation of the rules of natural justice and do not take in to consideration observations made by the High Court of Delhi. The letter also suggests that information about the members of the EACs should be made available on the website along with an undertaking from them that there is no conflict of interest.
